Cambodia In Color
Believe it or not, this is one of the many homes that the people of the floating village in Cambodia live in. We have so many blessings here in America and could never imagine having to live in a boat on the river with snakes all around. This was truly a humbling experience for me to see how some people in the world live.
The kids float around in these galvanized buckets asking for one dollar to have their photo taken. I had to hold a giant snake that is probably bigger than I am just so the kids wouldn't think that I was afraid. These kids got a special treat of Pringles, as this was a dock at the store on the floating village. Connecting with people is a big part of what I do when I am able to travel to different countries. Learning their culture is another thing I like.
The beautiful bright colors of the Cambodia water village are attractive to the eye. I do a lot of black and white but I feel like these bright colors need to be seen. As the sun was setting lower in the sky, the colors became even more vibrant. The families are just like any other family. They work hard every day to provide for their children.
Fishing is the main source of income for the people who live in these floating villages in Cambodia. These temporary villages can be moved as needed to follow the fish with the tides. This way of life has to be hard. The children's playgrounds are in the river in metal buckets and their pets are wild snakes. Not really my idea of a good pet.
