Unfortunately, being disabled and elderly and alone is all too often a way of American life for many Americans. Can you imagine being stuck inside all the time, day after day, without any communication with anyone? Please take time to check on your neighbors and loved ones and spend some time with them.

Kermit Charlie was holding this sign and talking to people passing by. He told me the story of himself and showed me a photo where he was in National Geographic magazine.
I wanted a photo of this gentleman. He was used to people asking this if him since he is a street entertainer. I wanted to see the real person behind the mask and asked if he minded my photographing him without it. He complied and showed the real person behind the mask.

Accepted at the Ohio State Fair Cox Fine Art Competition 2019 and will be on display this year during the Ohio State Fair. This man was very engaging and kind when I spoke with him. This is how he makes a living, sitting outside an abandoned building playing music for the tourists and hoping for donations.
Eating out is an American way of life. It is not only a way to get a meal, but to socialize with neighbors and friends as well. This old diner is a special place we found quite by accident but it is a great stop while passing through Hillsville, NC.
